I’m most inspired by color found in nature and when I go antiquing. Being in nature whether it be on a day trip to the mountains, beach or historical parks, I am surrounded by inspiration. I’ll normally take photos when color grabs my attention. Some of my favorite color finds are in quaint antique shops on the side of the road. Fields of wildflowers or plants also grab my attention during my travels.

As I make patterns for fabric I use my Pantone Color books. These can be purchased on my Amazon list. While a little pricey it is great to have on hand but be prepared to use the Pantone Connect.

If you are working with Spoonflower they require RGB instead of CMYK. If you plan to print your own artwork go for CMYK. If you are keeping it digital than it is recommended RGB.

When working in RGB for Spoonflower I recommend purchasing the Color Map before creating your designs in Illustrator. I received the Color Map and began to pick out my favorite colors. The colors appear very different from print to screen. While I mainly use browns, tans, yellows, oranges, my selection of colors has a few greens, blues and pinks.
